JUST IN: Truck crash and diesel spillage cause total road closure of N1

JOHANNESURG - Following the earlier motor vehicle accident involving two trucks on the N1 South before Maraisburg Road, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmedt that all lanes of the N1 South are closed to traffic. According to JMPD, this closure is necessary to allow emergency personnel to safely manage the scene and clear the diesel spillage and overturned vehicle. "Three slight injuries have been reported, and one of the trucks has overturned, spilling diesel. Emergency personnel and Law Enforcement are on scene, and initially, three lanes were affected and closed off, causing heavy delays. "All lanes of the N1 South are currently closed before Maraisburg Road. Vehicles are being diverted at Gordon Road. Significant and heavy traffic congestion is being experienced on the N1 South and surrounding areas," said JMPD. KZN Premier conveys condolences on the passing of Imithente Maskandi group co-founder

GAUTENG - The KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli has expressed shock and disbelief at the untimely passing of Imithente maskandi group co-founder, Dumisile Manana-Mthalane. Manana-Mthalane passed away in the early hours of Sunday, 27 April 2025, at Vosloorus Hospital in Gauteng. “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Dumisile Manana-Mthalane. As one of the founding members of Imithente, she was not only a talented musician but a devoted leader who upheld the values of peace and unity championed by the late uMntwana waKwaPhindangene, Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi. JOHANNESBURG - South African veteran actor Don Mlangeni Nawa, has passed away. Known for his superlative stage and screen plays, the former Isidingo actor passed away at the age of 65. Bra Don rose to fame in the 1980s as Laqhasha on in Sgudi Snaysi alongside late veteran actor Joe Mafela aka Sdumo. In a statement, Bra Don passed away on 16 April 2025. The family has asked for privacy as they grief their love one. Also, they promised to share memorial and funeral details in due course. This is a developing story.

Alleged rape case against Soapie star's son postponed for further investigations

RANDBURG - The alleged rape matter against Donell Mbele(23), was postponed by the Randburg Magistrates’ Court to 14 April 2025, to allow for the disclosure of the contents of the docket. The accused is facing two charges of rape stemming from a complaint filed with the Police by his 17-year-old girlfriend. The complainant alleges that the accused raped her on 14 and 15 December 2024 at his residence in Morningside. According to her statement, the two had gone on a date at Clearwater Mall on 14 December 2024 where they consumed beverages.  When the restaurant was about to close, they decided to move to a different venue. The accused then suggested they stop by his place to charge his phone, which is when the alleged incidents occurred.  The accused is currently out on R1000 bail while awaiting his next court appearance.

Eastern Cape-born musician Yolanda Nyembezi , affectionately known as Yallunder, passed away today following a short illness. Her family notified the public about her passing today. NELSPRUIT - South African comedian and actor Ebenhaezer Dibakwane has been laid to rest today in Mbombela, Mpumalanga. The multiple-winning comedian passed away on 7 March by suicide at the age of 31. His family revealed he struggled with depression for several years. His funeral was attended by fellow comedians, friends and family who paid their last respects to the beloved funny actor.

JOHANNESURG - The family of late South African comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane has confirmed that he died by suicide. The multiple-winning comedian passed away on 7 March at the age of 31. In a statement, the family revealed that Dibakwane struggled with depression for a number of years. "Poignantly, Ebby was well-known for the talent of making people laugh, but yet suffered from depression for a number of years," the family said in a statement. Comedy Central Africa also conveyed its heart-felt condolences. "Our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues in comedy of Ebenhaezer Dibakwane. Whether on a stage doing stand-up, in front of a camera crafting sketches or in our sound booth nailing voice-overs, it was always a joy and honour to work with Ebenhaezer. Rest In Peace." Dibakwane will be laid to rest in Mbombela this Friday, 14 March.

JOHANNESBURG - Amapiano’s most beloved musical duo, Murumba Pitch has shocked fans after announcing their split.
