JUST IN: Truck crash and diesel spillage cause total road closure of N1

JOHANNESURG - Following the earlier motor vehicle accident involving two trucks on the N1 South before Maraisburg Road, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmedt that all lanes of the N1 South are closed to traffic. According to JMPD, this closure is necessary to allow emergency personnel to safely manage the scene and clear the diesel spillage and overturned vehicle. "Three slight injuries have been reported, and one of the trucks has overturned, spilling diesel. Emergency personnel and Law Enforcement are on scene, and initially, three lanes were affected and closed off, causing heavy delays. "All lanes of the N1 South are currently closed before Maraisburg Road. Vehicles are being diverted at Gordon Road. Significant and heavy traffic congestion is being experienced on the N1 South and surrounding areas," said JMPD. AUCKLAND PARK – METRO FM, the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) largest commercial radio station, has announced its highly anticipated 2025/26 line-up.

According to the SABC, this year’s line-up promises to bring even more excitement, energy, and entertainment to the station’s loyal listeners. A new era with fresh talent, the 2025/26 line-up boasts an impressive mix of new and familiar faces.
Most of the weekday flagship shows will remain, with exciting line-ups offering a great mix. Renowned DJ and Radio host, Siyabulela Supta Sithole, joins the station with “Midnight with a Smile” on Mondays to Fridays, between 00:00 to 03:00. Newsreader, Paulette Neo Kaise, joins “The Best Morning Breakfast Show” and “The Touchdown” to provide daily traffic updates.

The weekend line-up receives a fresh boost with the return of legendary radio personality and TV star, Dineo Ranaka, who takes over the “The Saturday Top 30“. Ismael Abrahams takes over the 00:00 to 03:00 slot “Radio Active” on weekends.

Building on last year’s success, the new line-up is set to reinforce the success of METRO FM’s flagship shows, which saw significant improvement in listenership and revenue. The station remains committed to delivering high-quality content and innovative programming to cater to its youthful urban adult audience.
After 13 years of bringing insightful and reliable traffic reports, Rob Byrne departs the station. Reputable radio personalities Nthabeleng ‘Mat Elle’ Matela and Khanya ‘DJ Kayeezi’ Siyengo will also bid farewell to METRO FM at the end of March. The station acknowledges and honours their significant contributions to the METRO FM brand.
