Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. #RIP: SA comedian Ebenhaezer Dibakwane passes away


JOHANNESBURG - The South African entertainment industry has been left reeling in shock following the sudden passing of comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane.

Creative agency Pickled Ginger released a statement following the acclaimed comedian's death.
 
The statement reads:

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of celebrated comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane. A friend to so many, he will be remembered for his off-the-wall humour, original style of stand-up comedy and the joy he brought to audiences across South Africa.

Born in 1994, the youngish comic caught waves in when he won the Savanna Comics’ Choice Newcomer of The Year Award.

He subsequently won a second Savanna Comics’ Choice Award for Intermediate Comedian of The Year as well as two other Comic’s Choice nominations, showing how immensely popular and respected he was in the industry.

He was also recognized for his writing skills when he was nominated for a SAFTA for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting. 



To know Ebenhaezer was to love him, and he’ll be sorely missed.
