Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. Women's Breakfast to feature keynotes by former Minister Pandor and Public Protector

JOHANNESBURG - Former cabinet minister Dr Naledi Pandor will deliver the keynote address at the much-anticipated SAIGA Women in Leadership Breakfast, set to take place at the Wits School of Governance in Johannesburg on 08 August 2025.

Themed “Empowering Women Shaping the Future of Leadership and Governance,” this important event forms part of Women’s Month and aims to uplift and support women across all sectors of society. Dr Pandor is a respected leader who has spent many years promoting education inclusion and leadership in South Africa. She will possibly share knowledge on how women can overcome challenges and lead with purpose.

The event will feature a powerful panel discussion with some of the country’s most influential women in leadership. The discussion will be led by Ayanda Allie, a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. The panel will include the Public Protector of South Africa Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka, Rakshika Danilala the CEO of AAA Consulting, Ayanda Mafuleka the CEO of FASSET, Bontle Lerumo the CEO of PSETA and a senior lecturer from the Wits School of Governance, Dr Hlengiwe Ndhlovu. 

The panelists will discuss the role of women in shaping policy leading innovation and building institutions that benefit society. The topic of the panel is “Power with Purpose Women Shaping Policy Leadership and Institutional Change”.

 “This event is more than a celebration of Women’s Month. It is a space for women to connect learn and grow together. We are very proud to welcome Dr Naledi Pandor and other inspiring leaders to this important event” said SAIGA Acting CEO, Sello Malatsi.

 The event is in partnership with the Wits School of Governance which is committed to training leaders and promoting good governance across South Africa.

 SAIGA Members will earn 6 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points for attendance.
