Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. Mongiwa Hazel Ntuli (17) obtains BSc in Actuarial Science from the University of Pretoria

PRETORIA - The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, has congratulated 17-year-old Mongiwa Hazel Ntuli on her remarkable achievement of obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Pretoria.

"This milestone comes at a critical time as South Africa works to increase enrolment in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields—areas essential to building an inclusive and resilient economy.

"Hazel’s success stands as a powerful reminder of the potential within our youth and the importance of nurturing talent that will drive the country’s economic development," said Nkabane.

Starting her tertiary studies at the tender age of 14, Hazel embarked on one of the country’s most challenging academic paths, mastering a rigorous actuarial science curriculum renowned for its global standards. Her academic excellence places her among the youngest and most accomplished graduates in the field.

Now 18, Hazel is already pursuing a Master’s degree and has plans to add an MBA to her academic portfolio all while laying the foundation for a promising career. “I’ve always believed in dreaming big,” Hazel said, attributing her resilience and determination to her faith, which she describes as a cornerstone during difficult moments.
