Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. Former MKParty SG Floyd Shivambu unpacks his political future amid fallout with Zuma

JOHANNESURG - Former Secretary General of UMkhonto Wesizwe Party Floyd Shivambu opened up about his ideologies and political future after falling out of the former President Jacob Zuma-led movement.

Breaking down the summary of his press conference, he tweeted:

Today we spoke to the people of South Africa via media and posed the following questions:

1. Is there a need for another political party in South Africa?
2. If yes, what should it be and what values and principles should it espouse?
3. What should distinguish the party from the rest?
4. How should it be funded if agreed?

We ask these questions because our strong conviction and belief is that no individual should start a political party out of their own personal convictions and not collective convictions.

1. A political party should never be an individual personal project.
2. A political party should never be a family project.
3. A political party should never be a tribal project.
4. A political party should never be a regional or provincial project. 
5. A political party should never be a platform for self enrichment.
6. A political party must never be a private property.
7. A political party should never be a cult or fiefdom. 

On the contrary,

1. A political party must be a fighting instrument and vehicle for the people as a whole. 
2. A political party must espouse deep democratic principles and values.
3. A political party must be transparent and accountable to the people.

With this in mind, we will be visiting all corners of South Africa to listen to the people.

Accused in Ekurhuleni City Chief Auditor murder case appears in court

KEMPTON PARK - Thabani Goodwill Ntshalintshali (40), accused of the murder of City of Ekurhuleni Senior Auditor Mpho Mafole, appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court on a charge of Murder. The case has been postponed to 15 August 2025 for further investigation. The State alleges that, on 30 June 2025 in Kempton Park, the deceased was allegedly followed after attending a work-related meeting on the day of the incident. He was shot and declared dead at the scene. A witness later informed police about a suspicious vehicle in the area, which led authorities to launch an investigation that eventually pointed to the accused. Ntshalintshali is also facing another pending murder case scheduled for trial on 12 and 19 August 2025. Due to this outstanding case, the State will oppose the bail application. The investigation is ongoing and further arrests cannot be ruled out. The accused remains in custody until his next court appearance.

Upgrade of Muizenberg beachfront starts this month

CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town wants to alert the public that the refurbishment of the Muizenberg beachfront will commence next week.  The contractor will establish the site camp and work areas as from Monday, 3 February 2025, and effect the closure of the impacted sections on the western side of Surfer’s Corner the following week, if all goes as planned. The informal gravel parking area next to the railway line will be closed to the public, as will access to and from the St James Walkway from Surfer’s Corner. Joggers and walkers wanting to access the walkway will be redirected with detour signage to and from the underpass at Bailey’s Cottage and the rail level crossing at the beachfront. The refurbishment of the Muizenberg beachfront entails major upgrades to public amenities and replacing the aged seawalls. Home Affairs detains Ms Chidimma Adetshina’s mother in Cape Town

 CAPE TOWN - Investigators from the Department of Home Affairs, assisted by the South African Police Service (SAPS), this morning detained Ms Anabela Rungo, the mother of Ms Chidimma Adetshina (pictured), at a property in Cape Town. The Department withdrew Ms Rungo’s South African documentation in September 2024 after finding that it had been fraudulently obtained, rendering her ineligible to continue residing in South Africa. In an apparent act of brazen disregard for the legal consequences of her conduct, it appears that Ms Rungo has defied her “undesirable” status through her Mozambican passport. Investigations are ongoing into further potential misrepresentation and fraudulent conduct. During the operation this morning, investigators from the Counter Corruption and Immigration Services branches of the Department also found Adetshina’s under-aged child residing with Rungo.
