President Ramaphosa’s US visit to bolster strategic, mutually beneficial SA-US ties

WASHINGTON DC - President Cyril Ramaphosa’s visit to Washington, D.C. is a significant and positive step in strengthening the strategic and mutually beneficial relationship between South Africa and the United States. Speaking to SAnews   ahead of the President’s arrival in the US capital, the Head of Public Diplomacy at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Clayson Monyela, underscored the importance of the visit. Monyela expressed optimism that the upcoming meeting on Wednesday will provide an opportunity to address and clarify issues, thereby enhancing the relationship between the two nations.  “We want to appreciate the fact that there is an opportunity for the two leaders to engage. Mother's Day tragedy: Tow truck collision ends nine lives

EMPANGENI - A tow truck rear-ended a bakkie, resulting in nine people perishing in a horrific accident in Empangeni, north of KwaZulu-Natal this morning (Mother's Day).

Public Statement by the MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma reads:
On this Mother’s Day, early this morning around 06h47, I received a report from our highly dedicated team from Road Traffic Inspectorate informing me about a horrific accident that claimed the lives of nine people, mostly mothers.

Losing a mother is a deeply painful experience that marks the radical change of the family’s life and involves a wide range of sad emotions.

According to a preliminary report, this accident, which happened along the N2 Northbound after Mthunzini Toll Plaza, involved a tow truck and a Hyundai H-1 which was transporting 24 members of the Zion Christian Church. 

They were travelling to Dukuduku, Umtubatuba.
