JUST IN: Truck crash and diesel spillage cause total road closure of N1

JOHANNESURG - Following the earlier motor vehicle accident involving two trucks on the N1 South before Maraisburg Road, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmedt that all lanes of the N1 South are closed to traffic. According to JMPD, this closure is necessary to allow emergency personnel to safely manage the scene and clear the diesel spillage and overturned vehicle. "Three slight injuries have been reported, and one of the trucks has overturned, spilling diesel. Emergency personnel and Law Enforcement are on scene, and initially, three lanes were affected and closed off, causing heavy delays. "All lanes of the N1 South are currently closed before Maraisburg Road. Vehicles are being diverted at Gordon Road. Significant and heavy traffic congestion is being experienced on the N1 South and surrounding areas," said JMPD. SAPS request assistance in case of missing constables

 PRETORIA - The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola is appealing to members of the public for assistance in finding three missing Constable’s.

The trio, two females and a male, 24-year-old Constable Cebekhulu Linda (male), 30-year-old Constable Keamogetswe Buys (female) and 20-year-old Constable Boipelo Senoge (female) were travelling in a white VW polo sedan from Bloemfontein to their area of deployment in Limpopo when they went missing.

Their last known location was at the Engen garage near the Grasmere toll plaza on the N1 on Wednesday, 23 April 2025.

Their vehicle tracking device and cellphones have been off since the day of their disappearance.

Their vehicle registration number is JCL 401 FS.

A 24 hour Venue Operational Centre (VOC) has been established and a full scale search is underway with a high level team of detectives and crime intelligence operators from Gauteng and the Free State have been mobilised to find them.

The members were off duty at the time and did not make it to their area of deployment. Anyone who may have information on their whereabouts is encouraged to call the investigating officer, Captain Chaacha Manga on 082 527-6099.

The SAPS is investigating a case of possible hijacking and kidnapping.

DURBAN - A family Pitbull was stabbed in the chest after it attacked four members of a family aged between 10 and 76. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received several  frantic calls for immediate assistance from residents from Tottenham Road in Parkgate about. 17:41 on Friday afternoon.  Reaction Officers and Paramedics converged on the scene and  found four people that had suffered extensive injuries and blood loss after being attacked by a 2.5 year old Pitbull named Patches. Paramedics stabalized and expedited the injured to a local hospital.  Reaction Officers found Patches on the premise with a stab wound to the chest. Eleven suspects intercepted for illegal mining in Gauteng

KINSGWAY - The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit Officers in conjunction with EMPD K9 Unit Officers, arrested 11 undocumented foreign nationals males between the ages of twenty (20) and fifty(50) years old, for illegal mining and contravention of the Immigration Act in the Kingsway area on Tuesday, 7 May.   According to EMPD, Officers carried out a sting operation as part to help curb the high number of illegal mining activities in the City of Ekurhuleni.
