Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. Two drug mules arrested at OR Tambo Airport, cocaine, heroin worth over R1.2 million seized


KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested two suspected drug mules at OR Tambo International Airport, bringing the total number of similar arrests at the airport to five since January 2025.

A 24-year-old Brazilian man and a 51-year-old South African woman, who had travelled on the same flight from São Paulo, Brazil, were intercepted by police upon their arrival on Thursday, 20 March 2025. Their arrest led to the seizure of cocaine valued at over R1 million.

A medical examination confirmed that both suspects had ingested "bullets" suspected to contain cocaine. The process of releasing these substances is ongoing, and the final quantity and value of the seized drugs will be determined upon completion.

In addition, police discovered and confiscated more cocaine concealed inside the suspects' luggage. Further investigations are underway to establish any potential links between the two individuals.

Earlier today, 21 March 2025, police also intercepted a shipment of white powder, suspected to be heroin, worth over R200 000. Preliminary investigations suggest that the shipment was destined for London, United Kingdom.
