Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. Tough for Kaizer Chiefs as Sirino out of action against Mamelodi Sundowns

SOWETO - Following an enforced break from action due to the postponement of their league match against Royal AM which was scheduled for last Saturday in Pietermaritzburg, Kaizer Chiefs will be back on the field today, Saturday, 1 March, to face Mamelodi Sundowns in a Betway Premiership fixture at a sold Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria.

The teams met in the corresponding first round fixture earlier in the season at FNB Stadium and Sundowns won the match 2-1. They also met in the Carling Black Label Knockout.

There will be a lot to fight for in this important match with three valuable points on the line. Amakhosi are in 7th position on the log with 25 points after 18 matches. The Brazilians, on the other hand, sit at the top of the standings with 48 points in 18 games.

Chiefs will be without Gaston Sirino in this match after he picked up a red card in Amakhosi’s last match, against SuperSport United.

The hugely anticipated match will kick off at 15:30.
