JUST IN: Truck crash and diesel spillage cause total road closure of N1

JOHANNESURG - Following the earlier motor vehicle accident involving two trucks on the N1 South before Maraisburg Road, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmedt that all lanes of the N1 South are closed to traffic. According to JMPD, this closure is necessary to allow emergency personnel to safely manage the scene and clear the diesel spillage and overturned vehicle. "Three slight injuries have been reported, and one of the trucks has overturned, spilling diesel. Emergency personnel and Law Enforcement are on scene, and initially, three lanes were affected and closed off, causing heavy delays. "All lanes of the N1 South are currently closed before Maraisburg Road. Vehicles are being diverted at Gordon Road. Significant and heavy traffic congestion is being experienced on the N1 South and surrounding areas," said JMPD. SASSA Learner Support Program hands over 180 school uniforms

LIMPOPO - MEC for Social Development in Limpopo, Florence Radzilani, handed over 180 school uniforms to learners from different schools as part of the SASSA Learner Support Program at Regorogile Community Hall, Thabazimbi Local Municipality.

The MEC was joined by the Mayor of Thabazimbi Local Municipality, Cllr Pilane Tumisang, Cllr Moatshe Dipuo, representing the Executive Mayor of Waterberg District, ward councilor Tshukudu , Sesoma and SASSA officials on Tuesday, 11 February.

MEC Radzilani urged parents to be more involved in their children's educational journey and encouraged them to assume greater responsibility for raising their children in a proper and courteous manner.

"It is your responsibility to make sure that your child attends school regularly as the government is providing the necessary social support," emphasized Radzilani.
