Parts of Limpopo turned into NO-GO ZONES due to #flooding

LIMPOPO - Parts of Limpopo have turned into disastrous zones following persistent rainfall across the country.

The Thabazimbi Local Municipality released a statement to caution its residents about severely affected areas and routes.

STATEMENT READS:

Due to the recent strong storms, some roads in our area are currently flooded and remain driven. However, some roads, including Elandskuil and the 10-mile route to Dwaalboom, are closed due to severe flooding. Additionally, the bridges in the surrounding areas are affected by flooding, and this is causing dangerous conditions.

Important infrastructure such as railway lines near R510 between Thabazimbi and Northam have also been affected, with parts damaged and demolished in shape.

In response to this tragedy, TLM mayor Cllr Tumisang Pilane, together with the chairman of Mafaratlhatlhatlha, Cllr Andries Tshukudu, Mmusakgotla Cllr Dingaan Sebata, Cllr Kinicki Sesoma, Councillor of Woto 5 Maxwell Magetse, and Councillor of Woto 7 Judy Mogapi, visited the places that were most affected, Including uncomfortable accommodations on Block 1 Expansion (Malema Park), Block 7, and Jabulani.

The team organized four temporary sites and meals for families affected by the flood.

We encourage all residents to stay alert and pay attention to road conditions. Flooding efforts will continue as severe storms continue.

Stay safe and please contact local authorities if you encounter any flood-related emergencies.
