JUST IN: Truck crash and diesel spillage cause total road closure of N1

JOHANNESURG - Following the earlier motor vehicle accident involving two trucks on the N1 South before Maraisburg Road, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmedt that all lanes of the N1 South are closed to traffic. According to JMPD, this closure is necessary to allow emergency personnel to safely manage the scene and clear the diesel spillage and overturned vehicle. "Three slight injuries have been reported, and one of the trucks has overturned, spilling diesel. Emergency personnel and Law Enforcement are on scene, and initially, three lanes were affected and closed off, causing heavy delays. "All lanes of the N1 South are currently closed before Maraisburg Road. Vehicles are being diverted at Gordon Road. Significant and heavy traffic congestion is being experienced on the N1 South and surrounding areas," said JMPD. New Online System for Comrades Wall of Honour Plaques

Pietermaritzburg - The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) is delighted to announce the launch of its new online system for ordering Wall of Honour plaques. This innovative platform allows Comrades Marathon enthusiasts to easily order new plaques or upgrade existing ones, celebrating their achievements and contributions to this iconic event.

 

Ordering your plaque is simple. All you need to do is go to the Comrades Marathon website at www.comrades.com and navigate to the Wall of Honour tab under the About section and complete the online form by following the prompts.




 

The new system offers several exciting features:

  • View a digital version of your plaque before finalizing your order.
  • Search for existing plaques on the Wall of Honour.

Applications will close once the limit for the current phase is reached, so early submissions are encouraged. 

Please also note that applications will be closed during the holidays so keep an eye on our notice on the Wall of Honour page, which we will update periodically.

The Comrades Wall of Honour, constructed in the early 1990s, is a tribute to the spirit and dedication of Comrades Marathon runners. With over 6,500 plaques currently displayed, the wall serves as a lasting legacy for those who have participated in the world’s biggest and oldest ultramarathon. The first section of the Wall of Honour is dedicated to past and future winners, highlighting their extraordinary achievements.

DURBAN - A family Pitbull was stabbed in the chest after it attacked four members of a family aged between 10 and 76. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received several  frantic calls for immediate assistance from residents from Tottenham Road in Parkgate about. 17:41 on Friday afternoon.  Reaction Officers and Paramedics converged on the scene and  found four people that had suffered extensive injuries and blood loss after being attacked by a 2.5 year old Pitbull named Patches. Paramedics stabalized and expedited the injured to a local hospital.  Reaction Officers found Patches on the premise with a stab wound to the chest. Eleven suspects intercepted for illegal mining in Gauteng

KINSGWAY - The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit Officers in conjunction with EMPD K9 Unit Officers, arrested 11 undocumented foreign nationals males between the ages of twenty (20) and fifty(50) years old, for illegal mining and contravention of the Immigration Act in the Kingsway area on Tuesday, 7 May.   According to EMPD, Officers carried out a sting operation as part to help curb the high number of illegal mining activities in the City of Ekurhuleni.
