Heidelberg Correctional Facility raided by EST and SAPS

GAUTENG - On Monday, 8 December 2025, the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU), under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Arends, conducted a search operation at the Heidelberg Correctional Facility. This initiative was executed in collaboration with facility management, including the Communications Department, the Emergency Support Team (EST), and various units of the South African Police Service (SAPS). The operation involved the search of over 100 inmates, resulting in the confiscation of numerous illegal items, including cellphones, chargers, earphones, a laptop, cash, dagga, tattoo machines, and various grocery items. On Wednesday, 10 December 2025, the #AGU returned to the Boksburg Correctional Facility for another search of approximately 150 inmates, resulting in the seizure of contraband such as multiple cellphones, a mini hi-fi, chargers, a knife, various grocery items, dagga, and cash. JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa embarked on a walk-about of the Walter Sisulu Square of Dedications ahead of the G20 summit held in the City of Johannesburg. The President participated in the CEO-City Cleanup Partnership Programme in Kliptown. According to government, this is a key initiative by the City of Johannesburg in Partnership with the Private Sector. Shebeshxt remanded in custody, case postponed to next week Friday

POLOKWANE - Limpopo superstar Shebeshxt was remanded in custody and his case for attempted murder was postponed to next week Friday. Lehlogonolo Chauke, also known as Shebeshxt appeared in Court at Polokwane, Limpopo Province today. The case has been postponed to next week Friday, as NPA seeks to consolidate several other violent cases he is accused of committing.  The 30-year-old Lekompo artist is facing charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and malicious damage to property, all linked to a road-rage shooting last month. Limpopo superstar Shebeshxt arrested for attempted murder

POLOKWANE - Limpopo superstar Shebeshxt, has been arrested on two counts of attempted murder on 12 November. Real name, Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, was nabbed by police following a shooting incident in Polokwane last month (October). It is reported that the Lekompo artist fired shots during a road rage brawl. The arrest took place in the morning in Bendor, a suburb in Polokwane. Police have confirmed that Shebeshxt has been charged with attempted murder. He is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025, to face the charge.

Kidnapped businessman rescued, wanted Mozambican kidnapper fatally wounded

KEMPTON PARK - The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has safely reunited an Indian businessman with his family following a shootout with an alleged mastermind behind the businessman’s kidnapping. The businessman was found in Alexandra in a shack shortly after midnight on Thursday, 04 September 2025. His rescue follows a shooting in which the alleged mastermind behind his kidnapping was shot and killed during confrontation with police officers near the R21 in Kempton Park on Wednesday evening. The suspect who goes by the nickname “Dollarman” is a wanted kidnapping kingpin in both SA and in Mozambique. He is on SERNIC which is Mozambique’s wanted persons database where he was a wanted for several kidnapping for ransoms cases. In SA he was also linked to at least five kidnapping for ransom cases as well as other cases of housebreaking, carjacking and possession of unlicensed firearms. PRETORIA -  President Cyril Ramaphosa has paid tribute to fallen veteran journalist Matshidiso "Tshidi" Madia. "My thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of journalist, political commentator, radio host and moderator Tshidi Madia who has passed away in the prime of her life. "Tshidi loved our country and this was the backdrop to her tough questions and her hopeful vision of a South Africa that can and should be better," said Ramaphosa. "We shall continue to work for Tshidi’s South Africa with her now silent pen and voice in our memories and hearts. GRAPHIC: One person has died, vehicles linked to e-hailing services torched at Maponya Mall

SOWETO - One person has been declared dead and two injured after e-hailing vehicles were attacked by unknown suspects at Maponya Mall this evening, 13 August 2025. According to information at hand, an ehailing vehicle was seen stopping at the entrance when about four men approached the driver and shot at him before torching the vehicle.  Another vehicle which was nearby was shot at and the driver managed to flee and his vehicle was also torched.  It was later discovered that the driver and another passerby sustain gun shot wounds and were taken to hospital.  A case of murder, attempted murder with two counts and arson is opened for further investigations.  The SAPS and JMPD are on the scene to monitor the situation which is suspected to be taxi violence related.

Dept of Home Affairs to open case against anarchists in Germiston

GERMISTON - The Department of Home Affairs says it is collating evidence and will open criminal charges against the anarchists who set a block of flats on fire in Germiston, which then spread to the neighbouring Home Affairs office.  'It is nothing less than an attack on our social infrastructure and cannot stand," says the department. The Home Affairs building went up in flames amid violent clashes related to eviction disputes. The unrest has led to the closure of key streets, including President, Queen, and Jack. Residents are demanding to occupy Pharoe Park flats without paying rent, escalating tensions on the ground. This is a developing story.

SAPS offer huge sum for arrest of WANTED POLICE KILLER

JOHANNESURG - The South African Police  Service (SAPS) is offering a cash reward for anyone who has information on Jabulani Thabang Moyo who is wanted in connection with the killing of two police officers in Roodepoort on Friday, 08 August 2025. "We are putting a R150 000 cash reward for anyone who can lead us to where he is. This criminal is very dangerous, do not approach him, he has no regard for life and we are warning anyone that has information to come forward and not approach this killer," said SAPS in a statement. Those who may have information on this case including the whereabouts of Moyo are encouraged to call Warrant Officer Rabosiwana from the Hawks on 0728444442.
